We replace all polybutylene pipes. Repairs are not recommended but we do make temporary repairs on these pipes. Grey or Blue Poly Pipes.
Polybutylene piping is a low-cost pipe and used for water lines. Poly pipe breaks because because of defects in manufacturing and chemistry. Areas of this pipe are thin and are eventually eaten by the chlorine in our water supply. This is why you will see pin holes in the line or breaks at the fittings. Over time it becomes brittle and/or thins out and breaks. It will deteriorate from the inside of the pipe which makes it difficult to determine if the pipe is still in good condition.
