The two main contact methods are email and cell phone. iSell.com keeps both of these hidden from the buyer until you choose to give them this information.
To place a classified ad, click the button in the top right of the website. You will then fill out required fields for your classified ad and then will be able to submit it.
Your classified ad will show on iSell.com within 30 minutes.
There are a few rules of buying and selling that will keep you safe:
If they have anything to do with Nigeria, it is likely they are a con artist.
Never accept payment for more than an item is worth. If the deal sounds too good to be true it probably is.
Do not sell or buy items from anyone overseas regardless of how much money they are willing to pay. The odds are that they are a con artist.
NEVER wire money directly to a seller you do not know. If you are buying or selling an expensive item use a legitimate escrow service like escrow.com. Most real buyers will not object.
Never wire money overseas. Your local, state or federal law enforcement agency cannot help you get your money back if you send it to Europe, Africa, Asia or South America.
Do not give out your bank account information for someone to wire you payment. Con artists will use your information to print fraudulent checks. Instead, have the buyer send payment via Western Union or use escrow.com.
Cashier Checks take 3-6 weeks to completely clear but your bank will give you the money immediately. If they are fraudulent your bank will hold you responsible for the full amount. Call the bank that issued the Cashier check and verify that it is good before depositing it.
Counterfeit Money Orders are easy to make. Do not accept them as payment.
This usually happens with motorcycles, jet skies, cars, pets or boats. The item will be priced really cheap (25-50% less than it’s worth). The con artist will tell you that they are out of the country on business or vacation and will ask you to wire them the payment via Western Union. Don’t do it. It’s a scam so please report it to us.
The only escrow service we recommend is escrow.com. If the seller refuses to use them then they are probably a con artist. The escrow website they propose will require you to wire them money to open an account and you will never hear from either of them again. Let us know if you find a seller using this ploy.
